Owning the accounting and compliance functions for a fast-growing multi-state business, the full-time California Licensed Accounting Director will manage financial reporting, oversee multi-state payroll, and ensure regulatory compliance while working remotely. Key responsibilities Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, ensuring accuracy in reporting and analysis of financial statements Oversee multi-state payroll operations, ensuring compliance with wage calculations and tax withholdings across multiple jurisdictions Manage the company's compliance function, maintaining all necessary business licenses, health permits, and regulatory obligations Required qualifications 7+ years of experience in accounting with a focus on financial statements and close processes CPA certification is strongly preferred Proficient in GAAP and financial reporting, with experience in the full accounting cycle Experience managing multi-state payroll and regulatory compliance Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
