Position Description
The Associate Technician, Metrology, performs calibration and measurement activities under the supervision of qualified Metrology Technicians and the Metrology Lab Leader. The role involves calibrating measurement instruments, assisting with calibration procedures, identifying measurement errors, evaluating measurement uncertainty, and preparing calibration reports with NIST traceability.
Skills Required
- Strong aptitude for technical concepts, measurement principles, and calibration procedures.
- Above-average mechanical skills.
- Analytical skills to identify measurement errors and interpret technical specifications.
- Knowledge or willingness to learn calibration standards and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards, including ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.1.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and meet deadlines.
- Physical ability to stand approximately 50–75% of the workday and lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
Experience Required
- 0–2 years of experience.
- Entry-level candidates with relevant technical aptitude and mechanical skills may be considered.
Education Required
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
