Remote Contract Architecture and Engineering Occupations
Role : CAD Designer
Location: Houston, TX
Assignment: Long Term Contract
Compensation : $30-34/hr
Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k).

Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support the development and execution of pipeline and industrial facility projects. This position will work closely with engineering, operations, project management, and field teams to develop accurate design documentation and support projects from initial planning through completion.
The ideal candidate has hands-on mechanical drafting experience in pipeline, plant, refinery, tank, or other industrial environments and is comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce and update mechanical design drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and CADWorx.
  • Develop project documentation such as P&IDs, isometrics, plot plans, material lists, and related design deliverables.
  • Support design work for new construction, facility modifications, maintenance projects, and as-built documentation.
  • Manage multiple assignments while balancing project deadlines, priorities, and changing requirements.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, project management, and field teams to translate project needs into accurate design deliverables.
  • Contribute to project planning, preliminary scope development, estimates, design reviews, and quality checks.
  • Help improve drafting standards, workflows, and processes to increase consistency and efficiency.
  • Communicate project status, deadlines, and potential issues to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and add value through design and drafting practices.
Qualifications & Education
  • 3-7 years of mechanical design or drafting experience in pipeline, refinery, plant, tank, or similar industrial environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and CADWorx.
  • Understanding of pipeline and industrial facility design, construction, operations, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with facilities such as compressor stations, pump stations, meter stations, PSM-regulated facilities, and high-pressure gas systems.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Comfortable working independently while collaborating with remote and onsite team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
  • Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Equivalent relevant industry experience may be considered in place of formal education.
