CAD TechnicianWe are currently seeking a CAD Technician for our Midwest Heavy Civil Division in Crown Point, IN. The CAD Technician is responsible for supporting the Estimating Department with quantity take-offs and vendor solicitations, also supports field projects with CADD drawings.There are many compelling reasons why exceptional people should consider a career with our company:Challenging, complex workCreative and innovative problem-solving environmentSupportive, communicative managers who reward hard workOpportunities for growth, training, and developmentFlexibility in career path & progressionOpportunities to work and live all over the United StatesResponsibilitiesDevelop/modify CAD exhibits to support construction operations and planningPrepare access and staging plans, haul routes, and site logistics exhibitsCreate crane pick layouts, lift exhibits, and related construction graphicsPerform vehicle tracking for oversized and specialty deliveries (e.g., large beam transport)Assist with permit exhibits and agency submittalsSupport project managers and field teams with constructability visualsSupport the estimating team with earthwork quantities, takeoffs, and constructability inputApply problem solving skills and creative thinking to develop practical, buildable solutions for complex construction challengesMaintain organized CAD files and project documentationOccasionally visit job sites to verify conditions and support construction planningQualificationsMinimum 2-year drafting/design degree or 4 years of relevant drafting experienceProficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation (required)Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads experience (a plus)AGTEK and 3D Lift experience (a plus)Experience with 3D modeling, surfaces, and visualization (a plus)Familiarity with heavy civil construction means and methodsStrong understanding of constructability and field coordinationExcellent organizational and time-management skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionAbility to collaborate effectively within a team environmentStrong attention to detail and clear communication skillsThe Walsh Group, Ltd.
