CAD / BIM ManagerSarasota, FL, United StatesAbout the JobPosition: CAD / BIM ManagerReports to: Engineering ManagerEducation: Minimum - Associates Degree in drafting design.Experience: Minimum - 7 to 10 years of AutoCad and/or REVIT experienceMinimum – 2 to 5 years of management experienceStatus: Salary, exemptJob Summary: The position of CAD/BIM Manager entails working with Project Engineers and Project Managers to prepare engineering drawings, generate design documents from sketches and/or marked-up drawings through the use of AutoCAD, REVIT or any other applicable software for projects assigned. CAD/BIM Manager will also schedule and coordinate work, oversee CAD/REVIT staff in regards to timelines and budgets, establish and enforce AutoCAD/REVIT standards based on national standards, coordinate work with outsource vendors, review shop submittals and RFI's.Knowledge/Skills RequiredMinimum 2-year Architectural or Structural Drafting/Design Technology Degree is required4-year degree preferredExperience in AutoCAD & REVITKnowledge of basic drafting skill and methodsExpertise in industry accepted drafting standardsEffective time management skillsExperience in managing a CAD/REVIT teamAbility to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work requiredExcellent communication skills to be able to interface between all internal disciplinesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with Senior Managers, outside vendors and clients.Attitude/Traits/AppearanceProfessionalCourteousCooperativeMaturePunctualDependableNeatAccurateDetail-OrientedDuties and ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed AutoCAD/REVIT drawings from sketches, notes, and other input materials.Develop and maintain project drawing files and library.Complete assignments on time as scheduled.Prepare engineering drawingsSchedule, coordinate and oversee all work for the AutoCAD/BIM departmentTake ownership of every project assignedBe responsible for all content of the drawing and file treeCheck and back check all work before presenting to the Project Engineer/ManagerAnticipate additional work required and take initiative to get it done without waiting for Engineer mark-ups or direction.Anticipate what will be needed for drawing set including general notes, typical details, schedules, etc. and populate plans without direction.Cut and rough out sections that will be necessary without directionDay-to-day oversight of CAD staffProvide technical training to less experienced CAD staffOversee project budgets to ensure CAD/BIM staff is staying on trackEffectively communicate with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Engineering Manager and HR as needed in relation to CAD/BIM staffEstablish and enforce AutoCAD/REVIT standardsCoordinate and oversee work with outside vendorsReview shop drawings and RFI'sMaintain positive relationships with clientsImplement and maintain KEG standards for completion of projectsIdentify and prioritize tasks necessary to complete projectsPerform tasks or delegate tasks to suitable employees so that they are completed at required intervals and according to KEG quality standardsVerify that tasks have been completed at required timesWork with Engineering Manager and Controller as requested to review billing and make changes as needed prior to distribution to clientsReport status of projects to Project Engineers, Project Managers, Engineering ManagerTrack and report budgeted time versus time expendedAllocate work to staff based on employee skills and balanced work loadsMonitor employee effectiveness and productivity based on billable time in each periodBehavioral ExpectationsService – Anticipates and responds to the needs of clients, co-workers, managers, and the community.
