Structured Cable Technician (Commercial / New Construction)Location: Chopticon, MDDuration: 6 weeksStart Date: Monday, August 3rdJob Description:Structured Cable Run, terminate, and test CAT 5 and CAT 6 cables according to industry standards.Dress and route cable into device locations.Cable pathway installation (J-hooks, uni-strut, ladder rack).Cable management (dressing, labeling).Cable Termination RJ-45/Modular Plug).Patching work in preconfigured MDF cabinets.Drilling and Mounting Drill and securely mount camerasLadder Work Safely work on ladders to install and maintain equipment at heights.Documentation Maintain accurate records of work performed, including cable runs, installations, and troubleshooting steps.Read and follow blueprints set for installation.Networking: Basic Networking experience to get devices online in a wireless network environmentStrong PC skillsTroubleshooting experienceSafety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.Qualifications:Strong knowledge of low voltage copper cablingAbility to work on ladders and overheadBasic understanding of cabling infrastructure.Strong customer service experienceStrong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently and efficiently.Good communication skills to interact with team members and clients.Knowledge of setting up network devices including cameras and access pointsKnowledge of safety practices related to working with electrical equipment, ladders, and power toolsRequired PPE:Hard Hat, safety vest, work gloves, safety glasses, hard toe boots.Required Tools:Basic hand toolsScrewdriver (multi-Bit)Torpedo levelTape measureSnipsPliers (needle nose and channel locks)Cable stripperPunch down toolModular plug crimperFlashlight – not the one on the phoneFish tapeElectrical tapeCordless drillImpact driverVarious sizes of wood, metal and masonry drill bitsVarious sizes and types of driver bits
