Cable TechnicianWe are looking for a Cable Technician to support underground fiber line locating activities in Ames, Iowa. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys field-based work, values accuracy, and takes safety seriously while working around active construction and maintenance projects.
The role focuses on identifying buried infrastructure, documenting findings clearly, and coordinating with on-site teams to help prevent service disruptions and excavation risks.Responsibilities:Identify and mark underground fiber routes before excavation, repair, or installation work begins.Review utility maps, field diagrams, and available records to determine the correct path of buried infrastructure.Record completed locate activities accurately and maintain organized documentation for field and project reference.Work closely with construction and maintenance crews to communicate marked areas and promote safe digging practices.Perform field assignments outdoors across varying site and weather conditions while maintaining productivity and attention to detail.Operate in accordance with established safety standards and follow required procedures on every job site.
