Job Description:
  • This role is responsible for the day-to-day receiving, ordering, inventory, and upkeep of the Culinary Excellence Center (CEC) and other kitchen activities. The ideal candidate is highly articulate, intellectually curious, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring strong active listening, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to present and discuss culinary and operational information with cross-functional stakeholders. You ask clarifying questions to ensure project parameters are met.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Replenish products through proper buying procedures.
  • Work with Culinary Purchasing team as needed to secure samples of newly developed products.
  • Ensure product orders are timely and accurate.
  • Assume primary responsibility for processing and organizing all team product deliveries.
  • Review monthly production planning and adjust buying plan accordingly.
  • Monitor product quality and freshness and ensure proper rotation of product.
  • Use multiple systems to find and schedule delivery for all necessary ingredients and products.
  • If items for recipes are not available from vendors procure said items from stores.
  • Maintain all receiving and product trackers.
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks.
  • Assist with outgoing shipments and maintain relationships with delivery drivers and personnel.
  • Manage day to day operations of GTK.
  • Manage maintenance of GTK building.
  • Buy, organize, and transport items needed for recipes for all special events - i.e. annual gathering, bar raisers, trends dinner, tribal, etc..
  • Support entire culinary development team on products needed for development and testing.
  • Support any data organization needs for team.
  • Arrive to workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attends required trainings and meetings.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized working environment.
  • Report safety violations and hazards immediately; help maintain facility security.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
GENERAL:
  • Arrive to workstation on time, appropriately groomed, dressed, and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.
  • Follow and comply with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized working environment.
  • Report safety violations and hazards immediately; help maintain facility security.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Minimum 2 years buying/receiving experience.
  • Basic food knowledge and interest a must.
  • Working knowledge of online ordering systems.
  • Strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow Team Members.
  • Ability to follow directions and procedures.
  • Ability to perform simple math and culinary conversions.
  • Strong and effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency while managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Must be self-motivated and solution-oriented with a desire to learn and grow.
  • Basic knowledge of ingredient information and nutritional facts.
  • Ability to learn photography basics and operate a camera.
  • Comfortable with computer operating systems.
  • Maintain high productivity levels; actively seek out efficiencies and additional work as needed.
  • Experience with high-volume production ordering and organization.
  • A desire to learn about natural and organic foods and products.
  • Provide ideas and suggestions that contribute to the growth of the team.
  • Good working knowledge of and adherence to all relevant company policies, company mission, and standards.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must adhere to company dress code and standards of production kitchen dress and PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Must follow all food safety and sanitation procedures as outlined.
  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Regular use of the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, reaching, lifting.
  • Repetitive use of hands and arms.
  • Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
  • Exposure to and work within varying temperatures and conditions (walk-in coolers and freezers, near ovens and smokers, etc.).
  • Exposure to continuous background noise and occasional loud noises.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Unassisted lifting of up to 50 pounds.
