Business Unit ControllerReports to: Regional ControllerFLSA Status: ExemptLocation: Columbus, OHThe OpportunityWe are seeking a Business Unit (BU) Controller for one of our newest portfolio companies. This individual will be a key member of the Accounting and local Leadership team and is responsible for delivering timely, accurate and insightful financial information to BU and Meriton leadership. This is a hands-on role where a healthy balance between coaching, delegating, and individually contributing is critical.The role and responsibilities of the desired candidate is to be the finance business partner to BU Leadership Team. The BU Controller has responsibility for the following:Deliver financial results for the BU, including certain portions of the month-end close and deliveryReview and oversee the BU Accounting Operations related to AR Collections and the weekly payables runOversee revenue and related job accounting entriesWork closely with the Meriton Corporate Controller to follow Meriton accounting policies and maintain a strong control environmentSupport the overall Meriton external audit, when neededPartner with BU leadership on budgets and forecasts and support the BU financial goalsSupport sales as needed with project and customer mattersAd hoc requests as necessaryThe Required ProfileBachelor's degree in accounting or financeCPA highly preferred10 years plus experience, construction experience a plusIndustry experience as a leader in a controller organizationExperience with ERP, Microsoft D365 a plusFluent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail, accuracy, and confidentialityStrong communication and interpersonal skillsStrong business acumen and analytical skillsOperations and commercial literacyAbility to deliver accurate and detailed reports in a timely mannerOther Skills/AbilitiesLanguage Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.Environmental RequirementsWill be required to work in an office environment.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard and telephone, reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
