Business ManagerPosition Title: Business ManagerClassification: Full-Time, 12-Month Administrative PositionReports To: Superintendent of SchoolsPosition Summary: The Business Manager is a district-level administrative leader responsible for the oversight and management of Business Services. This position provides strategic leadership for the district's financial and operational functions and serves as a key advisor to the Superintendent on fiscal planning, resource allocation, and operational efficiency. The Business Manager ensures effective administration of district business operations and works collaboratively with district staff, school administrators, external partners, agencies, vendors such as food service and transportation, as well as other stakeholders to support the overall mission of the school district.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Lead the development, implementation, and long-range planning of the district budgetDevelop budget guidelines, coordinate the annual budget process, and support administrators in budget preparation and reviewPrepare, analyze, and present financial reports to support Superintendent and Board of Education decision-makingMonitor and manage state and federal grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with applicable requirementsOversee financial systems, recordkeeping, and internal controls to ensure compliance with audit, legal, and regulatory standardsSupervise Business Office operations, including oversight of the district accountant and related financial functionsAdminister and oversee the district transportation program in accordance with Board of Education requirementsOversee employee benefits administration, including coordination of medical, dental, life, and related insurance programs in accordance with applicable contracts and district policyAdminister district facilities operations, including maintenance, security, property protection, and community use of school facilitiesOversee school nutrition services in compliance with federal, state, and local regulationsServe as advisor to the Superintendent regarding all financial and operational mattersPerform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of SchoolsQualifications:Administrative certification (085 -School Business Administrator) or (092) certification from the Connecticut State Department of Education, or eligibility to obtain certificationBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's degree or CPA preferredExperience as a School Business Manager, Director of Finance and Operations, or equivalent leadership role preferredExperience with school financial systems (Infinite Visions preferred)Strong knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, and financial management in a public sector environmentStrong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively across a broad range of district roles and responsibilitiesExperience working with external partners, agencies, and service providersKnowledge of human resource and benefits administration principles preferredDemonstrated leadership, management, and decision-making skillsPhysical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periodsAbility to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and electronicallyAbility to travel between district buildings as neededOccasional attendance at evening meetings, including Board of Education meetingsFLSA Status and Compensation: This is a full-time, salaried, exempt administrative position in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

The annual salary range is $110,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications, and in accordance with Board of Education policy and/or applicable collective bargaining agreements, as applicable.
