Business Program FacultyThe primary role of faculty is to serve as facilitators of student learning. Faculty enhance the learning process through educational and discipline specific professional development activities. Faculty advance the institution through participation in college, professional, and community activities.
This faculty member will teach courses in the Business Program and the associated concentrations within the major. These courses focus on the fundamentals of business, topics include areas such as management, marketing, finance, accounting and human resources. Topics taught vary on instructor knowledge and fit within the department.FACILITATOR OF STUDENT LEARNING: The teaching and learning process is a partnership promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience between teacher and student.
This process provides meaningful learning experiences enabling learners to develop their ability to solve problems, think critically and creatively, and communicate effectively while developing marketable technical skills. Faculty do this by:Providing instructionDeveloping and revising curriculumProviding a safe and inviting learning environmentProviding student evaluation and feedback in a timely mannerParticipating in the assessment of student learning through program assessment and general education assessmentMaintaining accurate recordsUsing appropriate learner-centered instructional methodsUtilizing the learning management system for every course and keeping current with the use of appropriate technologyIntegrating the principles of workplace values in the learning environmentMaintaining equipment and materials in the learning environmentPreparing and distributing course syllabiScheduling and maintaining adequate office hoursAdvising students for course registration and graduation as well as other academic issues, including referrals to other college servicesLead, oversee, and participate in co-curricular student activitiesPROFESSIONAL GROWTH: Faculty enhance meaningful learning experiences by:Participating in professional activitiesCollaborating with colleaguesExploring innovative teaching, learning, and technology practicesCreating, implementing, and evaluating an annual, individualized plan detailing goals for growth in collaboration with the Division Dean.SERVICE: Faculty promote a positive working relationship through participation and leadership service to:The studentsThe CollegeProfessional organizationsThe communityA minimum of a bachelor's degree and 3 years full time related work experience in the field is required. An advanced degree in Business is a beneficial but not requirement for consideration.
Absent the master's degree, the faculty member will be required to develop and follow a plan to earn a master's degree as part of their ongoing education and professional development.
