Business Intelligence Developer – Financial AnalystUniversity of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Financial Analyst and Business Intelligence (BI) Developer (Finance and Accounting Principal Professional). This full-time, University Staff (non-classified) position will be responsible for providing financial activities and system analytics for the Department of Emergency Medicine. This includes providing advanced accounting, finance, and analytical support to the Department through complex financial analysis and modeling, trend analysis, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have excellent skills in Microsoft SQL Server, SSMS, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, Power BI, PowerPivot, and Excel. The Financial Analyst will play a critical role in developing accurate, insightful financial reports by integrating data from multiple sources. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data visualization tools, and a deep understanding of financial principles. The analyst will support both detailed financial accountability and high-level strategic planning, ensuring leadership has the information needed to make informed decisions. In all ways, and together, we improve lives.Key Responsibilities:Data Integration & Reporting – 40% Leverages institutional databases and departmental systems to compile and analyze financial data for accurate calculation. Collect, consolidate, and validate financial data from diverse systems and sources. Develop and maintain comprehensive financial reports that support operational and strategic objectives.Visualization & Analysis – 40% Build interactive dashboards and visualizations using Power BI and Smartsheet to present complex financial data in a clear, actionable format. A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree in accounting, business, business analytics, finance, economics, statistics, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Higher education accounting and finance experience.

Experience working with Epic or any other Electronic Health Record.

Experience working with Python, R or other statistical modeling tools.

Experience working w/ Artificial Intelligence (AI) specifically Microsoft Co-pilot.

Experience working in Visual Studio Code with version control i.e. GitHub and TFS.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Advanced proficiency in Power BI, Smartsheet and Microsoft Excel. Advanced proficiency knowledge of SQL, testing Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and forecasting. Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights. Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, sufficient to create, maintain, and update financial spreadsheets, databases, and budgets using complex formulas and functions. Advanced analytical abilities and skills to address significant issues and demonstrate judgment to resolve complex problems Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution. Familiarity with data warehouse design and data mining, and an in-depth understanding of database management systems and online analytical processing. Outstanding customer service skills.
