Business Director, Card Technology Analytics
As a Director of Business Analysis at CapitalOne, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. In this role you will lead Card Technology Analytics, a premier analytical organization tasked with measuring, optimizing, and unleashing the execution power of ~900 teams across Card Tech+. This organization acts as the analytical engine behind our goal to ‘Transform How We Build Software’ at CapitalOne, delivering the data insights necessary to guide and accelerate strategic engineering outcomes. The core mission of Card Tech Analytics is to chart the path to automate everything but the creative problem solving in developing software by leveraging initiative analysis, overall delivery analysis, and data foundations. This work directly drives our ultimate vision: to realize an engineering landscape of total operational transparency, where deep data insights unlock developer productivity and elevate the quality of our services.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning & Advisory – Serve as a trusted advisor to Card Tech (CT+) leaders and stakeholders. Formulate and execute a holistic analytical roadmap that spans initiative‑level (micro) assessments, systemic delivery (macro) analysis, and cloud‑native data foundations to instrument the engineering pipeline end‑to‑end.
- Developer Productivity & Experience Analytics – Own the governance, production, and synthesis of executive data insights and reports to deliver clear visibility into the “Metrics that Matter” across core developer productivity and experience metrics. This includes driving the measurement strategy for Continuous Deployment (CD) adoption by benchmarking delivery speed, deployment frequency, and pipeline quality targets.
- AI Tooling & Impact Assessment – Establish data‑driven frameworks to quantify the active utilization, multi‑tooling behaviors, and efficiency impacts of AI developer tools. Lead efforts to measure resulting capacity and throughput gains through the lens of developer productivity and experience metrics.
- Agile Delivery Health Governance – Oversee the evaluation of structural delivery health indicators. Track and calibrate a balanced suite of developer productivity and experience metrics across engineering portfolios to optimize planning accuracy, manage unplanned work, and accelerate story cycle times.
- Capacity Optimization & Financial Modeling – Architect precise resource capacity views that delineate technical allocation across non‑discretionary and discretionary initiatives. Map team capacities across major business segments (including Auths, Payments, Core Mod, Core TSYS, and Discover) to optimize strategic investment choices.
- Ecosystem Well‑Management & Tooling – Champion the integrity of the data foundations layer. Act as a vocal, proactive customer to upstream infrastructure data producers, eliminate data gaps within Jira workflows, and cultivate a highly collaborative user and agilist community.
- People Leadership – Direct, mentor, and inspire a cross‑functional, high‑performing organization composed of Business Analysts and Data Analysts. Foster an agile, inclusive, and outcome‑oriented culture focused on continuous learning and high‑impact skill growth.
Core Proficiencies
- Strategic Mindset – Design an ambitious long‑term strategy from data insights and actively influence broader organizational strategies across leadership teams.
- Business Focused – Translate abstract engineering telemetry into baseline dollar and capacity impact models, connecting core technical modernizations to strategic business outcomes.
- Technology Driven – Display deep curiosity toward evolving software infrastructure (CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, container health, and AI models) to maintain an authoritative fact‑base for analytical architecture.
- Human Centered – Look at data through the lens of engineers, customers, stakeholders, and leadership teams. Utilize metric transparency to proactively mitigate friction, dissolve systemic delivery roadblocks, and optimize the overall experience for everyone in the ecosystem.
- Integrated Problem Solving – Design automated, unified reporting solutions out of highly disparate engineering systems of record, establishing a single source of truth that stands up to intense executive scrutiny.
- Transformational Leadership – Navigate fluid, highly complex developer spaces with clarity, setting clear key results and rallying cross‑functional teams toward shared optimization horizons.
