School Bus MechanicPosition Purpose: Under the general supervision of the Director of Transportation, to ensure that safe transportation is provided for students and staff.Essential Functions: Inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining gasoline and diesel-powered buses and passenger vehicles to ensure safety and reliability. Key duties include performing preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake jobs), repairing engines and transmissions, diagnosing electrical systems, and maintaining accurate repair records.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of diesel engines, heavy-duty automotive repair, and computer diagnostics.Tools: Proficient in using specialized shop tools and diagnostic equipment.Physical Stamina: Capable of heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs), bending, crawling, and standing for long periods.Documentation: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and wiring schematics.Qualifications:Education: High School diploma or GED.Experience: Generally 13 years of automotive or heavy-duty diesel experience.Licensure: Valid Driver's License, with the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within the first 6 months.
