Building Enclosure Consultant / Senior Project Manager – Intertek
Location: Minneapolis, MN (Fridley)
Intertek, a leader in quality and safety solutions, is seeking an experienced Building Enclosure Senior Project Manager to join our Building Science Solutions (BSS) team. This role offers a versatile career in building enclosure consulting, with opportunities to lead projects, build client relationships, and contribute to our local BSS office growth.
Shift/Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM. Up to 25% travel outside the local area.
Salary & Benefits
Base salary: $115,000 – $140,000, with bonus eligibility. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k) with company match, generous PTO, tuition reimbursement, and more.
What you’ll do
- Provide and lead building enclosure commissioning projects, including training staff in the BECx process.
- Deliver building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and design and construction services for new projects.
- Conduct investigations and assessments of existing buildings, and develop remedial repair designs when needed.
- Prepare proposals for new work.
- Assist in meeting profit center financial goals.
- Prepare professionally written deliverables such as proposals, technical reports, and design reviews.
- Provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to team members.
- Help hire and train new building science team members.
- Assist the department manager with business development in the local area and support national pursuits.
- Balance staff workloads and bring in new work to keep the office adequately utilized.
- Participate in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and serve on technical committees.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering and 7+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting.
- Or 10+ years of experience in building enclosure consulting in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent technical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction.
- Experience managing a range of small to large projects.
- Building enclosure project management experience.
- Physical ability to perform office and field tasks (e.g., work from ladders, boom‑lifts, scaffolds, roofs).
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Professional interaction and communication with clients and project teams.
- Ability to travel up to 25% outside the local area.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications
- Building enclosure commissioning experience and proficiency.
- Professional registration or ability to obtain registration within one year (e.g., AIA, NCARB, SE, PE).
- Field and technical experience with diverse building types and enclosure systems.
- Additional registration or certification, or ability to obtain within one year (e.g., CBECxP, CxA+BE, BECxP, REWC, RRC).
- Proficiency with computer modeling tools such as THERM, WUFI, EnergyPlus, COMcheck, or similar.
- Experience in building enclosure testing, including functional performance testing and investigative testing.
- Property/ façade condition assessments.
- Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam proficiency.
- AutoCAD/Revit/BIM/Sketch‑Up proficiency.
- Safety training/ scaffold certification.
