Craft and Technical Solutions (CTS) is an established marine and industrial staffing company with offices nationwide. We are currently seeking experienced Brush & Roll Painters for a marine project in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.
Job Description
The Marine Painter will be responsible for surface preparation, coating application, preservation, and touch-up work in a shipyard environment.
Responsibilities
- Read and comprehend work instructions, drawings, specifications, and general correspondence.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of ship terminology and compartment location nomenclature.
- Understand the preservation process and complete quality work safely and on schedule.
- Mix preservation materials according to Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Perform masking and taping to protect surrounding areas from overspray or other collateral damage.
- Inspect completed preservation work and perform touch-up work as needed.
- Safely operate hand and power tools associated with the painting and preservation trade.
- Scrape, sand, needle-gun, and otherwise prepare surfaces to remove old paint, rust, and contaminants.
- Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, conventional spray equipment, and airless spray equipment.
- Operate and troubleshoot abrasive blasting and painting equipment.
- Maintain working knowledge of various industrial and marine coating systems.
- Work safely in tight, confined, elevated, and difficult-to-access areas.
- Follow all required safety procedures and properly use PPE, including hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, goggles, respirators, safety harnesses, safety lines, flotation gear, and other required equipment.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment while meeting production and quality requirements.
- C7 abrasive blasting experience.
- C12 spray application experience.
- C14 industrial coating systems experience.
- Previous commercial, industrial, or maritime painting experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred/required.
- Minimum 1-3 years of commercial, industrial, or maritime experience.
- Experience in shipyard, marine, or industrial painting and preservation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- Knowledge of marine safety regulations and procedures.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to work day or night shifts based on shipyard needs.
- Must be physically and medically capable of wearing all required PPE.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Must be able to work in person at the job site.
