AdventHealth Shawnee Mission in Kansas City is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and team-oriented fellowship-trained Breast Medical Oncologist to join their expanding team. This role involves delivering cutting-edge, patient-centered care to individuals with breast cancer, while also contributing to general oncology services. The successful candidate will join a growing subspecialty oncology program within a new $70 million Cancer Institute, offering a collaborative environment and access to comprehensive resources.

Practice Info

  • Six oncologists currently in the group, with continued expansion in specialization
  • New $70 million Cancer Institute located on the Shawnee Mission campus
  • Physician team continues to grow around Gyn Oncology, Breast Oncology, Thoracic Oncology, Neuro Oncology, and other surgical oncology specialties
  • Access to research, clinical trials, tumor boards
  • Multidisciplinary care team consisting of nurse navigators, dietician, social workers, oncology rehab, palliative medicine, and patient financial navigators
  • Approximately 20 patients daily

Responsibilities

  • Deliver cutting-edge, patient centered care to individuals diagnosed with breast cancer
  • Contribute to general oncology services
  • Share rotation of call with other physicians in the practice, including weekends
  • Cover inpatient and outpatient clinic call at night

Compensation

  • Guaranteed initial base salary with a wRVU production component

Shift & Schedule

  • Monday-Friday
  • 1 in 6 call rotation
  • 24hr call (inpatient and cover outpatient clinic call at night)

Requirements

  • Fellowship-trained oncologist with a specialized focus in breast cancer
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification/eligibility in Hematology and Medical Oncology with significant experience and/or interest in breast cancer management
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong medical decision-making skills
