Brazer (1st Shift)This 1st shift Brazer position focuses on assembling and brazing flare tube extensions, return bends, headers, manifolds, and various copper hookup components into coils using an oxygen-acetylene torch. You will prepare coils and components for brazing, select and use appropriate brazing rods and flux, and create your own setups based on coil prints and blueprints.
The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, and confidence in performing simple arithmetic to ensure accurate and high-quality assemblies.ResponsibilitiesAssemble flare tube extensions, return bends, headers, manifolds, and various copper hookup components into coils according to coil prints and blueprints.Prepare header and manifold components for brazing both on and off the production line.Set up workstations and fixtures for brazing operations, ensuring components are properly aligned and secured.Braze headers, manifolds, and sub-assemblies using an oxygen-acetylene torch with BCUP 5 brazing rod and Stay-Silv Brazing Flux.Braze sub-assemblies using various brazing rods to meet specific joint and material requirements.Braze return bends, headers, and subassemblies to coils by following coil prints and established procedures.Perform brazing operations involving 180-degree and 360-degree joints using a braze torch.Braze brass fittings to copper components while maintaining strong, leak-free joints.Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools (such as tape measures) to perform mechanical assembly and brazing preparation.Read and interpret blueprints, coil prints, and work instructions to ensure accurate assembly and brazing.Perform simple arithmetic to verify measurements, dimensions, and material requirements.Monitor inventory levels of headers, manifold components, and related sub-assemblies, and communicate needs to maintain adequate stock.Inspect brazed joints and assemblies for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a large plant environment.Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working with torches, brazing rods, flux, and mechanical tools.Essential SkillsProven brazing experience using BCUP 5 brazing rod and Stay-Silv Brazing Flux.Hands-on experience brazing components with an oxygen-acetylene braze torch.Mechanical skills, including the safe and effective use of hand tools and power tools.Ability to read and interpret blueprints, coil prints, and work instructions.Capability to perform simple arithmetic for measurements and layout.Experience assembling and brazing headers, manifolds, return bends, and sub-assemblies to coils.Ability to monitor and manage inventory levels of headers, manifolds, and related sub-assemblies.Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs (non-repetitive), and stoop as needed in a plant environment.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grenada, MS.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
