Bookkeeper Opportunity at Central Midwest Carpenters Training CenterCentral Midwest Carpenters Training Center seeks a Bookkeeper to coordinate day-to-day accounting operations and payroll and liaise with outside accounting partners to ensure accurate, timely, and well-controlled financial processes.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys hands-on detail work, takes pride in keeping financial records accurate and organized, and wants to be part of a collaborative, service-oriented organization.About the RoleThis role will serve as the primary internal resource for routine accounting operations, with CPA-level oversight and additional financial planning support. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning the accounting cycle, identifying discrepancies, maintaining organized records, and consistently meeting deadlines.Key responsibilities include:Managing general ledger activity and maintaining accurate financial recordsProcessing accounts payable and accounts receivableProcessing payroll and benefits activitiesProcessing stipend and reimbursement activitiesSupporting bank, credit card, and other account reconciliationsSupporting month-end closing activities and preparing supporting schedulesRecording journal entries and maintaining appropriate documentationSupporting financial reporting and providing accurate information to leadershipMaintaining organized records for audits, tax filings, and other compliance requirementsWorking with external CPA consultants and auditors to provide requested documentation and financial informationSupporting strong internal controls and appropriate separation of financial dutiesPartnering with colleagues across departments and locations to resolve accounting questions and maintain consistent practicesAssisting with other accounting and financial projects as neededIdeal CandidateYou are a highly organized and dependable accounting professional who enjoys working in the details. You know good bookkeeping is about more than entering transactions.

You understand how the pieces fit together and can recognize when something doesn't look right.You are comfortable managing competing deadlines, following established controls, communicating clearly with others, and taking responsibility for accurate and complete work. You bring sound judgment, discretion, and a high level of integrity to the financial information entrusted to you.Experience working in a nonprofit, union, multi-entity, or similarly complex environment is especially valuable.What You'll BringSignificant professional bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally including having visibility into the full accounting cycleDemonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end closeStrong understanding of fundamental accounting principles and internal controlsExperience working with QuickBooks Online, Microsoft Office Suite(365), and bill payment platforms such as Ramp.comAbility to maintain accurate records and manage multiple priorities and deadlinesStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication, organization, and follow-throughExperience supporting audits or working with external accountants is preferredAssociate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will also be consideredLocationThis is a fully on-site position in Greenwood, Indiana.
