Biomedical Equipment TechnicianSeeking Biomedical Equipment Technician (II and III) to join a growing Healthcare company in the Greater Philadelphia area. These are permanent opportunities.Job Description Summary:Provides advanced levels of equipment and/or departmental service and support. Performs preventive maintenance, quality assurance inspections, installation, testing, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and general maintenance on biomedical, clinical data/network systems, and related technologies.Job Description:Completes the preventive maintenance (PM) workload to achieve a consistently high level of PM compliance over time. Provides safety checks, repairs, and installations of biomedical and communications equipment.

Identifies and obtains supplies and other materials required to service, maintain, and repair equipment at the lowest possible cost. Establishes and maintains supporting technical literature such as manufacturer's literature, references standards, specifications, and other documents necessary for supporting the biomedical program. Ensures that the biomedical equipment is in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and quality control standards. Make effective presentations to small groups of peers to ensure staff remains up to date on new trends.

Provides in-service and training on biomedical equipment and electrical safety. Participate in continuous performance improvement initiatives related to medical equipment use. Reviews FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and/or other device recall and problem notification sources to verify if any of the covered equipment falls within the problem equipment listings. Reviews incident reports related to equipment malfunction or misuse and takes appropriate actions to ensure patient safety.

Periodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basis. Participate in on-call rotation and upgrade support.Additional Responsibilities:Participate in new equipment evaluations, acquisitions, and installationsAssist with recall/alert identification and managementPrioritizes scheduled maintenance in accordance with medical equipment maintenance management policyResponds to requests for maintenance services from equipment users; performs initial assessment, problem verification, and troubleshootingReviews FDA, ECRI, manufacturer, and/or other device recall and problem notification sources to verify if any of the covered equipment falls within the problem equipment listingsReviews Incident Reports related to equipment malfunction or misuse and takes actions to ensure patient safetyAttending vendor sponsored technical training service schoolsParticipates in continuous performance improvement initiatives related to medical equipment useSpecial projects and other duties in support of the hospital system as assignedPeriodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basisParticipates in on-call rotation and upgrade supportKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to perform component level repairs at least 35% of the timeProficient in the repair and preventive maintenance of the following devices: Anesthesia Machines, Anesthetic Gas Analyzers, Blood Cell Savers, and Diagnostic Ultrasound machinesKnowledge of state-of-the-art electronic and test equipment, quality assurance procedures, and preventive maintenance proceduresKnowledge of source, use, and applications of alternative parts providers as related to electronic or electromechanical equipmentKnowledge of computer software-based work order tracking systemsAbility to use vendor-supplied service documentation, technical manuals, and general electronics industry parts and specification materials to test, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair assigned equipment and related systemsAbility to work well in a team environment and to be self-motivated and self-disciplinedEffectively deals with multiple and changing prioritiesMust be able to visit multiple business locations (Dependent on employment location)Ability and willingness to travel to remote hospital sites and to periodically conform to a flexible work schedule on an as-needed basisEducation:H.S Diploma RequiredPreferred: Associate degree in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, or related fieldsExperience:Minimum 1-2 years progressive experience performing repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipmentPreferred: 3 years' progressive experience performing electronic and/or electromechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on both general and specialized biomedical equipmentLicenses and Certifications:Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) and/or Military (DoD) Biomedical Equipment Technician certificationVendor and manufacturer (OEM) repair/training certification(s) or similar credentialsAdditional Experience:Any GE PCS/Telemetry experience would be a plusWork Schedule and Requirements:Standard support (work) hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 6:00 PM (8-hour day / split shift)Shift 1: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm / Shift 2: 9:30 am to 6:00 pmSome after hours, weekend, and holiday work may be requiredSome positions may be responsible for multiple locations in the same geographic areaSome site-to-site travel may be requiredFlexible work schedule required to accommodate early morning or evening repairs as neededPositions participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support
