Bioinformatics Scientist
Location: Hybrid - 1910 East Innovation Park Drive, Tucson, AZ
Pay Rate: $45-$65/hour, based on experience
Duration: 3-year contract with potential for extension and/or permanent placement

The Position
We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Bioinformatics Scientist to support a leading diagnostics research and early development team. This role will work closely with molecular biologists, computational scientists, wet-lab researchers, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and optimize bioinformatics tools, workflows, and analytical pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with molecular and computational biologists to design, optimize, and troubleshoot high-throughput sequencing and scRNA-seq experiments.
* Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines and analytical tools supporting NGS, scRNA-seq, and multiomics data.
* Provide bioinformatics expertise throughout assay development, including sequencing, validation, and production implementation.
* Partner with wet-lab scientists to improve workflows, data quality, and assay development efficiency.
* Troubleshoot data quality, integrity, and accessibility issues across diagnostic workflows.
* Document, scale, and promote best practices for reproducible bioinformatics tools and workflows.
* Communicate scientific findings, project outcomes, and progress to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience .
* Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, or related field with 5+ years of industry experience , or PhD with 2+ years of industry experience preferred.
* Strong expertise in DNA/RNA sequencing and scRNA-seq data analysis and interpretation .
* Hands-on experience with 10X Genomics analysis workflows .
* Proficiency in Python and/or R and experience working in a distributed Linux environment.
* Strong understanding of molecular biology and next-generation sequencing laboratory processes.
* Experience creating clear and insightful visualizations of complex biological datasets.
* Strong communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and presentation skills.
