The term "food service individual" applies to the positions of all shifts and both full- and part-time positions.Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employees may perform other duties to meet the ongoing needs of the department and/or organization.

Duties within the department may also change to ensure business needs are met on an ongoing basis.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Observes shift operating hours at all times, as assigned by the Store ManagerPerforms specific tasks as assigned by the Store ManagerAssists the Store Manager in seeing that the store maintains a store inspection grade of at least 90%Adheres to all established food handling procedures and city, county, state, and federal regulationsAdheres to all Company policiesGives all customers prompt and courteous serviceFollow the work schedule as posted, unless a change in schedule is arranged with the Store ManagerStays familiar with Company Pricing, menu items, and bulletinsEnsures the Store Manager is made aware of all sales, cash, or operating discrepanciesOperates shift within Company guidelines to achieve sales and profitPrepares a shift-change report at the completion of shift in accordance with Company guidelinesClocks in and out on the computer, and signs verifying all hours workedNotifies the Store Manager of any discrepancies in the operating results on the shift report, or cash over or shift conditions in excess of $5.00 within 24 hoursAssures proper sale and accounting for money orders during shiftRings all sales as discussed in the Policy ManualAccurately posts store use of merchandise, voids, and bad merchandise write-offs, within established guidelinesAdvises the Store Manager of any personnel situations or policy violations having an adverse effect on store operating performanceShares the responsibility for controlling the inventory on the shift or in the storeAdvises the Store Manager immediately if the bank deposit is not made on a daily basisFollows Company policy with regard to excessive cash in register, change box, and safe security, as directed by the Store ManagerCompletes shift-change report at the end of shift, as directed by the Store ManagerFollows correct vendor check-in procedure as defined in the Policy Manual and as directed by the Store ManagerProtects Company assets at all timesKeeps coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted at all timesProperly cleans and maintains equipment and readies high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, etc., as directed by the Store ManagerUses correct pricing as listed in the price book or grocery catalog for all merchandiseUses plus-selling techniques as directed by the Store ManagerKeeps store floors clean at all times, with specific responsibility being assigned by the Store ManagerChecks refrigeration equipment for proper performance a minimum of twice per shiftCleans windows, floors, shelving, counters, and gas pumps to ensure they always remain cleanPost signs on out-of-order equipmentPost signs on hazardous conditions, such as wet floorsImmediately advise the Store Manager of any maintenance problemsQualificationsESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Be available to work all scheduled hours, as attendance is crucial, and be available to work occasional unscheduled shifts as requested or neededBe able to converse with, communicate, and understand the English language at the eighth-grade level, including the ability to hear the spoken wordBe able to perform arithmetical calculations at the eighth-grade level in order to make change, complete shift reports, and account properly during vender check-inHave sufficient visual acuity to check identification and process money ordersBe able to read and understand instructions for operating electronic cash registers and other equipmentBe able to assemble all products in accordance with preparation and consistent products portionsBe able to start and complete transactions with customers. This includes the greeting, suggestive selling, product preparation, order coordination, cash transactions, and the closingBe able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including cases of ice cream mix, bag in the box fountain syrup, and other food containers, etc.Be able to stock shelves, coolers, and freezersBe able to react to fire by moving and using a fire extinguisher weighing 20 poundsBe able to ascend/descend a ladder to clean windowsBe able to tolerate exposure to cleaning products, follow directions on label, sweep and mop floors, dust shelves, and move trash containers and place in an outside binBe able to clean the parking lot and grounds surrounding the storeBe able to enter and work in a cooler at a temperature of 34 degrees up to 20 minutes at a timeBe able to enter and work in a freezer at a temperature of –20 degrees for short periodsBe able to operate store equipment. Ex: cash registers, computers, and adding machinesBe able to remain in a stationary position for up to a full eight-hour shift while performing the necessary job dutiesBe able to bend, stoop, push and pull while stocking and merchandising the storeBe able to work as a "team" member to assure constant and consistent customer satisfaction
