Billing SpecialistContract Duration: 14 Months ContractLocation is in Cumberland, RI.

The role will start as mostly onsite for training and testing purposes but will transition to hybrid in August.The Billing Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational effectiveness and excellence of billing processes within the energy industry, with a focus on supplier coordination (ESG), regulatory compliance, and technical problem-solving. Operating within a hybrid work environment, this position requires a blend of onsite and remote work, with initial training and testing conducted onsite in Cumberland, RI.Job Responsibilities:Analyze and provide solutions to complex billing issues, demonstrating expertise in end-to-end meter to cash processes.Educate and enhance understanding among team members regarding billing processes and associated systems.Review, document, and optimize business processes, ensuring clarity and efficiency in operations.Monitor and analyze system control reports, identifying root causes and implementing necessary controls.Lead the implementation of new controls to enhance billing processes.Develop training materials and provide guidance to colleagues on billing procedures.Perform account data repairs to facilitate customer billing activities.Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.Investigate and address inquiries from both internal and external customers, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.Identify opportunities for leveraging information technology to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.Define requirements, prepare process flows, and participate in testing and implementation of billing system improvements.Assist in the preparation of business cases to support proposed changes or improvements.Craft clear and comprehensive communications with minimal supervision, ensuring effective dissemination of information.Facilitate meetings and deliver presentations to stakeholders, conveying complex information in an accessible manner.Establish and nurture effective working relationships with all departments within Client Electric Utilities and regulatory agencies.Maintain a physical presence in the office and onsite as needed, facilitating face-to-face interactions and coordination.Serve as part of the Electric Utilities emergency and storm response team, contributing to efforts to restore power and address customer service issues during emergencies, which may require after-hours work.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.Minimum of 3 years' experience in the energy industry, preferably in billing, ESG-EDI transmissions, credit and collections, business operations and planning, customer service, regulatory, or finance.Knowledge of customer service systems, billing processes, suppliers, and metering.Familiarity with regulatory rules governing the energy sector.Strong verbal and written communication skills.
