Billing ManagerThe Billing Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing the daily operations of a team of Billing Coordinators, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing practices across the Firm. This role works closely with attorneys, firm leadership, and cross-functional teams to drive operational efficiency, maintain high service standards, and support the Firm's financial objectives through consistent billing execution and proactive issue resolution.Essential Job Duties & ResponsibilitiesLead, train, coach and mentor a team of Billing Coordinators, providing day-to-day management, workload oversight, and clear direction to meet daily, weekly and monthly billing deadlines, as well as short- and long-term goals and objectives of the department and FirmManage team workflows and assignments to ensure balanced coverage, timely billing, and adherence to Firm policies, procedures, and client-specific billing requirements.Conduct regular 1:1 meetings with Billing Coordinators to review unbilled inventory, e-billing status reports and billing issues. Develop and guide staff to perform in accordance with billing policies and procedures, including timely follow-up and high-quality resolution of issuesProactively review inventory and consistently drive towards timely billing, anticipate issues and escalate as neededAggregate and report monthly on billing projections and provide various analyses as requested on inventoryMaintain active lines of communication within and between departments and with attorneys to resolve billing issues, and provide effective feedback and problem resolutionPartner with management and other departments to assist with testing, implementation, documentation, and adaption of system enhancements and process improvementsParticipate in hiring, onboarding, performance management process, including providing feedback, setting expectations, and addressing performance issues when standards are not metAttend Partner meetings with Billing Coordinators, as needed, to support billing discussions, ensure service quality, and identify opportunities for process improvementEnforce guidelines set by Senior Management, implement changes and improvements, and recommend enhancements to billing methods, workflows, and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Participate in departmental and management meetings to discuss ongoing initiatives and projects, escalated billing issues, and recommendations for resolution.Ensure effective administration and communication of departmental and Firm policies and proceduresCoordinate and provide coverage during absences of other managers and team members to maintain continuity of service.Work on special assignments and analysis as needed; coordinate with clients, Partners and firm management regarding projects, requested reports and analysisPerform other duties as assignedEducationRequiredBachelor's degree requiredPreferredDegree in Accounting or Business Administration preferredSkills and ExperienceRequired5 + years of billing experience in a large law firm and 3 + years of billing management experience supervising a team requiredAbility to effectively present information verbally and in writingStrong communication and presentation skills with the ability to present information in a variety of formats to team and higher levels of management in a confident and professional mannerProficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in ExcelStrong overall technical aptitude and experience with legal billing related systems; strong attention to detailAdvanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to fully utilize tools to compile and analyze dataAbility to exercise good judgment and decision makingStrong leadership qualities and ability to motivate, supervise and train staffAbility to effectively manage a team of employees with varying skills and expertiseAbility to use discretion with sensitive and confidential informationAbility to analyze complex problems and recommend and/or implement solutionsCan organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities, with the ability to effectively pivot to meet deadlines in a high-pressure environment with competing prioritiesStrong customer service skillsFlexibility to adapt to all work situations and work varied hoursPreferredHigh level of proficiency with 3E or Elite EnterpriseFamiliarity with E-billing HubSalary InformationNY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $190,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
