This role is critical to maintaining the firm's financial integrity and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant billing for services rendered to clients.The Billing Coordinator will work closely with Partners to compile, manage and execute attorney billing and resolve billing-related issues. We are looking for a candidate who can thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and contribute significantly to the Firm's goals and growth.ResponsibilitiesCompile and process a high volume of attorney bills to clients on a monthly basisReview and edit pre-bills in response to attorney and secretary requestsApply retainer/on-account funds as directed by attorney and as per Firm policyProcess write-offs following Firm policyExecute complex bills, such as multiple discounts by matter, split party billing, and prepare electronic bills in a timely mannerSubmit invoices electronically and assist in resolving issues that might ariseReview and verify accuracy of billing supporting documentation as requiredResearch and respond to internal and external inquiries regarding billing issues and problems in a timely mannerIdentify and resolve billing inaccuraciesCreate billing schedules and various other billing analyses as requiredEffectively interact and communicate with attorneys, secretaries and clientsDistribute monthly partner reportsReview and update comments for reports distributed to the Finance Committee and PartnersAttend Partner meetings and weekly management meetings to review unbilled matter comments, matter on-accounts and e-Billing issuesWork cooperatively with Collections staff and assist with accounts receivable issues to minimize credit balancesObserve confidentiality of client and Firm mattersProvide backup assistance as neededAssist with special projects as neededPerform other duties as assignedRequired SkillsAbility to effectively communicate and present information verbally and in writingAbility to work effectively as an individual and within groupsAbility to use an accounting calculatorProficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in ExcelMust be detail oriented and organizedAbility to work with a high degree of accuracyExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsCan organize, prioritize, plan and multi-task work activities, with the ability to effectively meet deadlines in a high pressure environmentAbility to adapt to all work situations in order to achieve desired resultsFlexibility to work additional hours as neededRequired Experience1 to 2 years of billing experience in a large law firm requiredPreferred ExperienceA minimum of 1 to 2 years of finance, accounting or e-Billing experience in a law firm preferredKnowledge of 3E billing system or comparable billing program preferredRequired EducationHigh School diploma or GED equivalentPreferred EducationBachelor's degree from four-year college or university, preferred, or, equivalent combination of education and experienceSalary InformationNY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
