This position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation, submission, and resubmission of medical claims and for ensuring patient orders and supporting documentation meet applicable payer requirements before billing.The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing or health insurance and brings strong attention to detail when reviewing patient information, insurance documentation, claims, and supporting records. This individual will collaborate closely with internal teams to resolve documentation gaps, maintain accurate billing records, and support timely and accurate reimbursement.This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Mobile, AL, with a minimum of three days onsite per week.ResponsibilitiesReview patient orders and supporting documentation to ensure they meet applicable insurance and payer requirements prior to claim submissionVerify required prior authorization, pricing agreement, and other reimbursement documentationIdentify missing, incomplete, or inconsistent information and collaborate with appropriate internal teams to obtain required documentationReview claims for accurate patient, provider, product, diagnosis, coding, and insurance information before submissionPrepare and submit medical claims accurately and within established timelinesSubmit claims through electronic billing systems, payer portals, paper mail, and other required submission methodsResubmit corrected claims and supporting documentation when necessaryReview patient accounts, order information, and applicable records to confirm billing eligibilityMaintain accurate claim submission status and billing information within patient and billing systemsVerify new payers and establish payer profiles within the billing systemCreate invoices and process payments for self-pay patients in accordance with company proceduresMaintain accurate, complete, and organized billing records and supporting documentationCollaborate with internal teams to resolve patient order discrepancies and obtain missing billing or insurance informationPartner with Finance and other internal stakeholders as needed to provide claims information and support reconciliation activitiesAssist with billing data entry, audits, reporting, and other administrative activities as neededIdentify recurring documentation or billing issues and escalate trends or opportunities for process improvementFollow company policies and procedures related to billing, documentation, patient information, and confidentialityProtect patient privacy and handle protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA and applicable regulatory requirementsMaintain a high level of accuracy and productivity while managing multiple claims and priorities in a fast-paced environmentRequirements1+ year of experience in a medical billing office, medical insurance setting, healthcare reimbursement, revenue cycle, or related healthcare environmentExperience preparing or submitting medical insurance claimsFamiliarity with medical billing and insurance reimbursement workflowsAbility to review patient, provider, insurance, and claim information for accuracy and completenessStrong documentation management skills and exceptional attention to detailFamiliarity with medical terminology and health insurance terminologyExperience working with medical billing systems, CRM platforms, or other healthcare information systemsStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple claims, priorities, and deadlinesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to identify discrepancies and work collaboratively with internal teams to resolve issuesExperience in a patient support, customer service, or customer care environmentAbility to effectively de-escalate and resolve difficult situationsAbility to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExperience with NikoHealth, Brightree, or similar medical billing and revenue cycle systemsExperience with Salesforce and Microsoft applicationsExperience reviewing prior authorization or payer documentation before claim submissionExperience submitting both electronic and paper medical claimsExperience with claim corrections and resubmissionsExperience within DME, medical device, or healthcare reimbursementExperience working within a startup or rapidly growing healthcare organizationCompensationBase Pay: $50,000–$60,000 per yearAnnual Bonus Eligibility
