Job TitlePay: Base Wage starting at $17.17; increased based on experienceIncentive Eligible Position: YesEssential FunctionsPrepare and submit clean claims to various payers either electronically or by paper.Handles patient inquiries and answers questions from clerical staff and insurance companies.Identifies and resolves patient billing problems.Follow-up on missed payments and resolve financial discrepancies.Issues adjusted, corrected, and/or rebilled claims.Identifies and initiates refunds to patients and/or insurance companies.Calls and speaks with insurance companies to determine denial reasons.Files appeals.Balance patient accounts.Maintains patient confidentiality.Skills AbilitiesAbility to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels.Ability to perform simple mathematical equations.Ability to prioritize and compete multiple tasks simultaneously.Effective oral and written communication skills.Working ConditionsPossible exposure to inside environmental conditions.Exposure to distressed patients, families, or visitors.Physical DemandsRequires standing, sitting or walking for up to 8 hours or longer per day.The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.QualificationsHigh School graduate or equivalent.Preferred Qualifications2+ years of experience.Previous experience in billing.Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with medical diagnostic procedures.
