Bilingual Spanish Social Worker
Family Service League is seeking a part-time Bilingual Spanish Social Worker for the Family Place Library in Riverhead. The Bilingual Social Worker will serve the library patrons at the Riverhead Free Library with social and emotional needs and provide case management, short-term counseling and crisis intervention, and facilitate referrals to mental health clinics and other community-based programs.
Responsibilities include conducting intakes and assessments of individuals and families, providing individual and family counseling, co-facilitating library groups, assisting in linking eligible clients with public benefits, providing linkage to more intensive mental health services, providing referrals to higher levels of care, providing crisis intervention when needed, documenting client contacts accurately and timely, and all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications include a Master's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field, two years of relevant clinical experience, at least one year of prior experience working with individuals with mental illness and their families, demonstrated knowledge of community resources and referral processing, the ability to perform suicide risk assessments and provide short term counseling, proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office, excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, and bilingualism in Spanish.
Physical requirements include sitting for long periods of time.
