Bilingual Aide
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of a certified teacher.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have 48 college hours or be considered highly qualified through completion of a state approved program.
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Instructional Support: Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments. Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom. Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment. Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports. Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
- Student Management: Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small groups. Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Keep teachers informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- Other: Maintain confidentiality. Participate in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge of rules, regulations, and practices. Perform other duties as required by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Must be present regularly in person.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
Equipment Used: Copier, personal computer, and audiovisual equipment.
Working Conditions: Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting.
