Bilingual Medical ReceptionistTownsen Memorial Surgery Center - Med Center is currently seeking a full-time bilingual medical receptionist to join our team! The medical receptionist is responsible for greeting patients, scheduling appointments, performing clerical duties, and providing medical procedural support. The medical receptionist exhibits professionalism while answering inquiries and providing information to the general public, visitors, patients, and other interested parties regarding activities conducted at the establishment and location of departments, offices, and employees within the organization.Essential functions include:Greeting patients as they arrive at the facility and providing appropriate informationEnsuring all vendors and visitors are signed in and processed according to facility policyAssisting patients to complete all necessary forms and documentation, ensuring completeness and accuracyUpdating patients' information into the database and logging all demographics in the EMR systemMaintaining patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information into e-clinicalObtaining revenue by recording and updating financial information, recording and collecting patient chargesMoving patients through appointments as scheduled, notifying the provider of patient arrivalAnswering telephone, assisting with inquiries, directing calls and messages to appropriate medical office staffResponding and complying to requests for information including sending faxes and e-mailsUpdating appointment calendars, scheduling, and rescheduling patients' appointmentsSupporting medical staff by completing administrative requirementsCalling patients and reminding them of their appointmentsKeeping patients' families informed of patient statusManaging filing and record keeping activitiesCreating and labeling appropriate charts for patients, obtaining all necessary documents related to the patient chartEnsuring the reception area is well maintained, neat, and clean, including the magazinesFollowing all safety rules, reporting all accidents promptly, and correcting minor safety hazardsCommunicating with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplaceAdhering to the company standards of business conduct, and protecting patient and family privacy rightsMaintaining confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy, procedure, and HIPAA requirementsReporting statistics as requiredCoordinating mail flow in and out of the officeMaintaining stock of forms and office suppliesPerforming other related duties as assignedKnowledge, skills, and abilities include:Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette, communicating professionally with patientsDemonstrating customer service standards (smiles and makes eye contact, greets each patient and visitor, seeks out patient and visitor contact, always displays appropriate body language, take 5 minutes each day to go above and beyond for one patient or visitor, honor diversity, and thanks each customer/patient)Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, office procedures, and terminologyKnowledge of systems such as word processing, managing files, and recordsKnowledge of computer, proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and WordStrong attention to detail, careful about detail, and thorough in completing work tasksAbility to maintain composure, keep emotions in check, control anger, and avoid aggressive behaviorAbility to maintain efficiency in high stress situations, accept criticism, remain calm, interactAbility to adapt with flexibility, open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplaceAbility to work independently, guide oneself with little or no supervision, and get things doneAbility to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flowDemonstrates polished patient interaction skills, organizational skills, multitasking, and task-oriented skillsAbility to complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due datesEducation and experience include:High school diploma or GEDOne (1) year of experience in a medical office settingBasic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hireBenefits include:3 medical plans2 dental plans2 vision plansEmployee assistant programShort and long-term disability insuranceAccidental death & dismemberment plan401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + holidays
