Bilingual / ESL Teacher

Job Summary

Seeking a caring and flexible Bilingual/ESL Teacher to provide instruction to multilingual students in a shelter-based educational setting. The teacher will support students ages 5 17 who may have different educational backgrounds, English proficiency levels, and lengths of enrollment.

Essential Responsibilities
Provide instruction in English and Spanish, as appropriate.
Teach and support English language development across subject areas.
Follow the RPS curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional schedule.
Differentiate instruction based on students’ ages, academic levels, language needs, and assessment results.
Use visuals, modeling, sentence frames, small groups, and hands-on activities.
Create a safe, welcoming, structured, and culturally responsive classroom.
Monitor student progress through classwork, assessments, observations, and IXL data.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, lesson plans, and student records.
Prepare instructional materials and maintain an organized classroom.
Collaborate with teachers, teacher assistants, site leadership, and shelter staff.
Follow all RPS, facility, confidentiality, safety, and student supervision requirements.
Participate in professional development, classroom observations, coaching, and staff meetings.
Perform other instructional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Teaching certification with bilingual, ESL, or related credentials preferred.
Experience working with English learners, newcomer students, or students with interrupted education preferred.
Strong communication, organization, classroom-management, and teamwork skills.
Ability to work patiently and respectfully with students from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to adjust instruction as enrollment and student needs change.
