Big Data Engineer – CassandraLocation: New York, NY Fully Onsite RoleOverview: Seeking a highly skilled Big Data Engineer with strong Cassandra experience to design, build, and support scalable data platforms handling large volumes of structured and unstructured data. This role focuses on high-performance, distributed systems supporting mission-critical enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with Big Data technologies, NoSQL databases (Cassandra), and distributed data processing frameworks, and will collaborate closely with architecture, application, and analytics teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain large-scale Big Data platforms using Apache CassandraBuild and optimize high-availability, fault-tolerant, distributed data solutionsDevelop data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and transformation of high-volume dataTune Cassandra clusters for performance, scalability, and reliabilityCollaborate with application teams to design optimal data models and access patternsImplement data consistency, replication, and backup strategiesMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues in Big Data environmentsEnsure data security, governance, and compliance with enterprise standardsParticipate in architecture discussions and contribute to platform modernization initiativesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field6+ years of experience in Big Data engineering or distributed systemsStrong hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra (data modeling, tuning, operations)Experience working with Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.)Strong knowledge of NoSQL databases and distributed data architecturesProficiency in Java, Scala, or PythonExperience with Linux/Unix environmentsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsExcellent communication and collaboration skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience in financial services or banking domainKnowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Experience with real-time or streaming data architecturesFamiliarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automationExposure to data governance, security, and regulatory requirements
