Full-time, Direct Hire

On-site, Richmond, VA

Our client is seeking an HR professional to oversee day-to-day operations for domestic employee reward and coverage programs. This role manages routine execution across group insurance, retirement accounts, and savings schemes. Key duties include HR database maintenance, third-party vendor oversight, and resolving workforce questions to keep company offerings aligned with overall compensation strategy.

Core Responsibilities

  • Plan Administration: Manage ongoing operations for group health schemes (medical, dental, optical), life coverage, income-protection plans, and retirement/savings accounts.
  • Open Enrollment Execution: Assist with yearly open enrollment cycles by performing system user-acceptance testing (UAT), distributing communication collateral, and addressing staff queries.
  • Data Integrity & Systems: Update and audit employee coverage records in the HR service platform to maintain high data accuracy.
  • Claims Processing: Direct death benefit claims for group life insurance and post-employment healthcare coverage.
  • Disability Management: Coordinate short- and long-term disability enrollment, medical clearance, and claim determinations. Liaise with local workplace health teams and field HR staff across domestic sites, while handling account billing and self-invoicing reconciliation.
  • Onboarding & Verification: Facilitate benefit onboarding sessions for new hires; review and audit new-employee entries completed by local HR reps to confirm record accuracy.
  • Employee Relations & Escalations: Serve as the primary point of contact for routine benefit questions, escalating complex or policy-level issues to senior management when necessary.
  • Vendor & Partner Liaison: Work alongside third-party administrators (TPAs) and carriers to verify eligibility, correct entry errors, and maintain seamless data transmission.
  • Special Projects: Contribute to functional initiatives designed to streamline administration, modernize wellness programs, and improve overall employee experience.
  • Cross-Functional HR Support: Offer operational coverage and support across adjacent human resources functions as needed during leave windows or peak workloads.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Human Capital Management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 years of progressive professional experience administering corporate benefit plans and health/welfare initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 to 3 years of dedicated experience in corporate benefits administration or general human resources.
  • Practical experience working with large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or HR Information Systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP SuccessFactors).
  • Equivalent combination of relevant practical experience and training will be considered in place of formal education requirements.

Key Competencies & Technical Skills

  • Self-Funded Knowledge: Familiarity with self-insured healthcare arrangements, administrative services only (ASO) structures, and related compliance practices.
  • Advanced Spreadsheet Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation tools (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, index-match), dynamic pivot tables, and conditional logic functions.
  • Data & Analytical Skills: Proven ability to process, audit, and interpret complex data sets with precision.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities; adept at working cooperatively within cross-functional teams and maintaining relationships across organizational tiers.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational capabilities to prioritize competing tasks, manage strict operational deadlines, and track multiple detailed projects at once.
  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Sound judgment under pressure, intellectual curiosity regarding emerging trends in wellness and HR technology, and a commitment to strict confidentiality regarding sensitive personal data.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel periodically as business needs dictate.
