Bench Machinist - 3rd Shift

Bench Machinist – 3rd ShiftOperating specialized machinery to perform operation of metal working components to specific processes and prints, requiring close tolerances.Key responsibilities:Maintain close tolerances. Perform related bench functions, such as, deburring, cutting splines, honing, marking part numbers, countersinking, drilling, etc. Change and replace dull or broken tools as requiredObserve machine operation for accuracy and replace dull cutters. Maintain correlated dimensions such as lead, pitch, diameter, profile, etc. Identify sets by stampingPerform dynamic balancing of single and multiple rotors, propellers, impellers, screws, rotating elements, timing gears and subcontract elements as required up to capacity of machineSetups require selection and the use of various bushings and arbors, including expansion arbors on which the parts to be balanced are securely mountedTolerances are close but not difficult to attain.Maintain balancing machines and toolingLubricate and perform minor maintenance functionsParticipate in bench assembly operations as workload requires. Perform various grinding, deburring, tapping, tap burning reaming, etc., to obtain proper fit, alignment and/or operation of items.

Operate various hand tools, drill presses, tap burner, etc.Remove burrs on all machined partsDetect and report defective materials and faulty operations to proper supervisor. Follow all safety rules, procedures and practices. Maintain work area in clean and orderly mannerRecord labor times and other related data on standard formsRecord all required data on Process Control Sheets including finished dimensions checked, measuring instruments used, serial numbers, etc.Candidate profile:Knowledge, skills & abilities:Must be able to read Blue prints/Geometric tolerancesMust be familiar with machinist tools and hand tools (micrometers, verniers, indicators, scales, dial bore gage)Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skillsMust be a team player, flexible, and self-directed /self-motivated and possess a positive attitudeMust be skilled at problem solving, thinking outside the box, and acceptable of change and innovation.
