Job Description
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction is looking for dedicated students to fill the position of a temporary Behavioral Health College Intern .
This temporary unclassified position allows 10 to 40 hours per week. Schedules available include part time, full time, and flexible options. Eligible candidates will work under the Behavioral Health Operation’s supervision at multiple locations throughout Ohio.
Guided by the agency’s mission “To reduce recidivism among those we touch,” the successful candidate will embrace the core values of the Department and serve as a role model for pro‑social behavior, demonstrating dignity and respect in the treatment of others.
Responsibilities
- Screen offenders for mental health symptoms.
- Develop treatment plans and participate in multidisciplinary teams.
- Provide evidence‑based group therapy.
- Meet with incarcerated individuals and document encounters using a SOAP note format.
- Assist in re‑entry planning through dialogue, referrals, and skill‑building practices.
- Assist with psychological testing.
Qualifications
- Accepted to a college or university and in good standing in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office.
- Basic documentation and behavioral health knowledge.
- Active learning, attention to detail, listening, and coaching skills.
