Building Automation Engineer
Salary: $90,000 – $130,000
A leading Building Automation Systems (BAS) integrator is seeking a Building Automation Engineer to support its growing team across New York and Northern New Jersey.
This role focuses on developing energy-efficient, multi-vendor control environments using Honeywell systems and Tridium Niagara N4 platforms. The successful candidate will be involved in system integration, programming, commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting across a variety of building automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Program, configure, and integrate new and legacy systems into a single, cohesive platform.
- Develop and program graphics for the Tridium front end.
- Lead the installation and engineering of advanced HVAC control strategies and network architectures.
- Program and commission BAS projects across both new construction and retrofit environments.
- Work directly with facility managers and customers to ensure seamless system integration and effective system operation.
- Direct field commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of DDC networks to ensure reliable, around-the-clock automation service.
- Work within a hybrid environment, with flexibility to work from home or on customer job sites.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (a plus), or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of central plants, including chiller and boiler plants, as well as AHUs and VAVs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, specifically focused on building automation, mechanical HVAC sequences, and low-voltage control circuits.
- Ability to work in data centers, hospitals, museums, and other critical environments.
- Proven ability to program systems from scratch, along with advanced troubleshooting experience within the Niagara platform.
- Strong knowledge of open protocols including BACnet and Modbus, with specific proficiency in Honeywell software and hardware solutions.
- Tridium Niagara N4 Certification.
- Honeywell experience is a plus.
Travel
- The role is primarily based in the New York Metro area.
- Approximately 6 weeks per year will require domestic travel across the USA to work on customer sites.
