Job Purpose
The Bartender crafts and serves beverages to the club's exacting standard, managing bar service and building member relationships with discretion and polish.
Principal (Essential) Duties
● Prepare cocktails, wine service, and other beverages accurately per recipe and presentation standards.
● Verify member/guest identification and practice responsible, compliant alcohol service at all times.
● Maintain bar cleanliness, organization, and stock levels throughout service.
● Accurately manage tabs, member charges, and POS entries.
● Build rapport with members at the bar, anticipating preferences and providing personalized service.
● Coordinate with the Barback on restocking, prep, and cleanliness during service.
Secondary Duties
● Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
● Strong mixology, wine, and spirits knowledge.
● Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy under pressure.
● Professional, discreet demeanor appropriate to a private club setting.
● Sound judgment in responsible alcohol service and conflict de-escalation.
Experience / Education Requirements
● High school diploma or equivalent required.
● 2+ years of Bartender experience in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or private club service preferred.
● Current D.C. ABRA-recognized responsible alcohol service certification (e.g., TIPS or equivalent) required.
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
● While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
● Operate with indomitable work ethic and the willingness to work additional hours and atypical shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
● Stand and walk for extended periods (up to a full shift) on a dining or bar floor.
● Lift and carry up to 35 lbs (trays, cases, supplies) and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and carrying.
● See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, bend, stretch, twist, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
