Onsite Full Time Everygreen

The Beacon Grand is quintessential San Francisco, symbolizing progressive thinking while also celebrating its storied heritage. Launched during the Prohibition Era as the Sir Francis Drake, the fully renovated hotel offers today's travelers a new way to visit San Francisco. Its 418 rooms and thoughtful shared spaces bring modern design to life with restored architectural details. Guests are looked after by the hotel's novel Social Hosts, who create a warm, convivial atmosphere as they facilitate stays that are personally tailored, unique, and full of discovery. Inside, visitors and locals mix and mingle in the communal living room and lively gathering spot, The Post Room and the iconic Starlite (coming early 2024). With everything from walkable shops and restaurants to cable cars outside the front door, the central and connected Union Square location is the perfect home base for exploring San Francisco.

We are actively searching for a Bartender with experience.
The Bartender at Starlite is the architect of the guest experience and the heartbeat of our lounge. More than a mixologist, the Bartender is a master of hospitality, precision, and performance. Tasked with executing a sophisticated beverage program, this individual balances the art of the craft with the speed of high-volume service. The Bartender ensures that every pour, shake, and stir reflects the "Starlite Standard" delivering impeccable cocktails with a presence that is as refined as the drinks themselves.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft & Execution: Prepare and serve a curated menu of classic and signature cocktails with exactness, focusing on proper technique, balanced flavors, and exquisite garnishing.
  • Atmosphere & Engagement: Curate a sophisticated bar-side experience; engage guests with professional charisma, offering expert recommendations from our spirits and wine collection while maintaining a commanding presence.
  • Operational Excellence: Maintain an immaculate and organized bar well. Manage "mise en place" efficiently to ensure the bar is always prepared for high-volume surges without compromising quality.
  • Technical Precision: Demonstrate expert knowledge of spirits, bitters, infusions, and glassware. Execute precise pours and maintain consistency across every drink served, whether for the bar top or the service well.
  • Collaboration: Work in lockstep with Server Assistants and floor staff. Provide clear direction to support staff to ensure the bar remains stocked with polished glassware, fresh prep, and ice.
  • Accountability: Manage cash and credit transactions with high integrity. Perform opening and closing duties, including inventory counts, restocking, and deep-cleaning protocols to ensure the bar is "show-ready" at all times.

Requirements & Skills:

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in a high-volume, upscale cocktail lounge, craft bar, or luxury hotel environment.
  • Advanced Product Knowledge: Deep understanding of classic cocktail builds, spirits categories (including rare/allocated bottles), and wine service. Knowledge of contemporary mixology trends is essential.
  • The "Hustle": Exceptional ability to multi-task under pressure, maintaining a calm, graceful demeanor and "theatre" while managing a heavy ticket rail.
  • Communication: Fluent in English; ability to communicate with sophistication and clarity to a high-end clientele and coordinate effectively with the kitchen and floor team.
  • Compliance: Current Food Handler and Alcohol Service Certifications (e.g., LEAD/TIPS) are mandatory. Must adhere to all state and local liquor laws regarding over-service and ID verification.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in a luxury or boutique "upper-upscale" setting is required.
  • Specialized spirits training or mixology certifications are a significant plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Endurance: Ability to stand and move with agility for long shifts in a high-energy, late-night environment.
  • Precision Movement: Dexterity for high-speed shaking, stirring, and delicate garnishing.
  • Strength: Ability to lift and carry 40lbs (kegs, liquor cases, ice buckets) as needed.
  • Flexibility: Must be available to work late nights, weekends, and holidays as the lounge schedule dictates.

Company Benefits:

  • Generous Paid Time Off plan, up to Five Weeks per Year
  • Medical / Dental / Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) Retirement Plan with Company Match
  • Commuter Assistance
  • Life Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program
