- Must be able to work in an environment subject to extreme cold (30 degrees), heat (temperatures above 100 degrees), loud noises from restaurant equipment, machinery, and music
- Must be able to communicate effectively and listen attentively to supervisors, other team members, vendors and guests
- Ability to understand communication in English
Responsibilities:
The primary job of the Bartender is to make and serve beverages for guests at the bar and for servers at the service bar. In addition to making and serving drinks the bartender provides excellent guest service.
Responsibilities include:
- Having complete knowledge of all products and specifications.
- Making and serving drinks consistently to provided specifications, including product, garnish and glassware.
- Providing barbacks direction to ensure proper operation of the bar and assist them when necessary.
- Greeting guests in a positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome.
- Providing food service as needed.
- Coordinates food service at the bar with the kitchen, runners and bar back.
- Providing guests at the bar with the correct and appropriate silverware for the menu items they enjoy.
- Ringing in beverages and food that are served, collecting payment, and following all cash handling and variance procedures, including preparing daily reports and submitting appropriate paperwork.
- Cleaning of all equipment, tools, and supplies. Maintaining equipment in good working order and maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of the bar.
- Stocking the bar counter with supplies, refill garnish trays, straws, napkins, etc.
- Maintaining complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available.
- Anticipating the guests’ needs and responding appropriately with a sense of urgency.
- Bidding farewell to guests and encouraging them to return.
- Working as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.
- Maintaining a level of professionalism that will make guests want to return
- Obtaining assigned bank and ensuring accuracy of contracted monies, keeping bank secure at all times.
- Keeping count on cash tickets and perform cash drops at the end of the shift.
- Completing opening and closing side duties which include, but are not limited to: checking quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies through checklist; setting up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail; checking condition and cleanliness of all tools; checking temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine.
- Communicating with Managers, Co-Workers and Guests in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees.
- Resolving guest complaints within scope of authority; otherwise referring the matter to management.
- Notifying Management and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft.
- Coordinating transfers of tickets with manager and other bartenders.
- Assisting with the stocking of all beverage products.
- Assisting with orders and requisitions for the bar.
- Communicating all 86’d items to managers in a timely manner.
- Performing other restaurant duties as requested by management.
- Following all health and safety regulations.
- Following and executing the service standards as outlined in the service manual.
- Following all procedures and policies set forth by the company.
- Further duties not currently listed in this outline may be added at management’s discretion.
- All duties are to be performed in accordance with federal, state, local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
Physical Requirements:
- Walk and stand for entire shift
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and lifting
- Able to work efficiently in crowded and/or tight areas
- Hazards include, but are not limited to: cuts from broken glass and metal cans, burns, slipping and tripping
