AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking an experienced, fellowship-trained Bariatric & Metabolic Surgeon to join KC Bariatric at AdventHealth in Lenexa, Kansas. This role offers the opportunity to focus on a high-volume surgical practice within one of the nation's most established bariatric surgery programs. The successful candidate will contribute to the continued growth, quality, and patient experience of this comprehensive program.
Practice Info
- Join an established, comprehensive bariatric and metabolic surgery program with significant existing surgical volume, an established referral base, and experienced bariatric staff.
- Practice with a dedicated multidisciplinary team that includes surgeons, APPs, registered dietitians, behavioral health professionals, medical weight-management providers, physical therapy, nursing, and bariatric-specific clinical and administrative support.
- Perform procedures at a bariatric specialty surgical hospital and ambulatory surgery center, with the resources and support of the broader AdventHealth system available when needed.
- Care for patients across the continuum of obesity and metabolic disease, with coordinated support before surgery and throughout long-term follow-up.
Responsibilities
- Focus primarily on metabolic and bariatric surgery; general surgery is limited primarily to the needs of bariatric patients, with no traditional general surgery call.
- Perform sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, complex bariatric revisions and conversions, upper endoscopy (EGD), and management of surgical needs and complications within the bariatric patient population.
- Develop trusted relationships with patients and families through clear communication, education, and a patient-centered approach to treatment decisions.
- Build productive relationships with referring physicians and other clinical partners to strengthen access, referral pathways, and continuity of care.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, APPs, medical weight-management providers, dietitians, behavioral health professionals, nursing, and other members of the bariatric team.
- Partner constructively with physician and administrative leadership to support program growth, quality, operational performance, and the overall patient experience.
- Demonstrate a commitment to clinical quality, patient safety, patient experience, and AdventHealth's whole-person approach to care.

Requirements
- Board Certification in General Surgery.
- Fellowship training in Bariatric Surgery and/or Minimally Invasive Surgery.
- 5+ years of post-training surgical experience.
- Significant bariatric surgical experience with the ability to practice effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Advanced laparoscopic surgical skills and experience with sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
- Experience with bariatric revisions and conversions strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in upper endoscopy.
- Robotic bariatric surgery experience preferred, but not required.
- Comprehensive understanding of obesity, metabolic disease, and the multidisciplinary care required to support successful long-term patient outcomes.
