Arlo Washington, D.C. is seeking a Part‑Time Barback to join our bar team. Barbacks at Renwick Hospitality Group are essential to the success of the bar program, ensuring bartenders have everything they need to deliver exceptional beverage service. This role focuses on bar setup and breakdown, prep work, restocking, cleanliness, and operational support across all beverage outlets.
Barbacks support the bartending team by maintaining organization, preparing ingredients, stocking all areas, and assisting with service needs similar to a Server Assistant. This position requires efficiency, attention to detail, strong communication, and a commitment to Renwick’s standards of cleanliness, consistency, and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities Bar Setup & BreakdownComplete full bar setup before service, including stocking spirits, wine, beer, ice, tools, glassware, and supplies.
Assist with bar breakdown at the end of service, ensuring all areas are cleaned, organized, and properly closed.
Prepare service stations, wells, and back bars according to Renwick standards.
Ensure all bar equipment is clean, functional, and properly stored.
Prepare all garnishes, juices, syrups, and bar ingredients according to Renwick SOPs.
Support bartenders with batching, including measuring, labeling, dating, and storing batches.
Maintain accurate par levels for all prep items and communicate shortages to bartenders or managers.
Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing deliveries.
Restock all bar areas throughout service, including wells, back bars, storage rooms, and rooftop or satellite bars.
Refill ice, glassware, napkins, straws, tools, and all other bar essentials.
Rotate stock using FIFO standards and ensure all products are stored safely and neatly.
Assist with weekly inventory counts when requested.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary bar environment at all times.
Clean as you go — wiping surfaces, organizing tools, and removing trash or debris.
Polish glassware, bar tools, and equipment to Renwick standards.
Ensure all storage areas, coolers, and prep spaces remain tidy and compliant with health codes.
Move, arrange, and replace furniture according to daily service needs, reservations, and event layouts.
Set up stations, dining rooms, and service areas based on bookings, event orders, and management direction.
Ensure all setups are completed safely, accurately, and on time, including table configurations, chair placement, linens, and service tools.
Break down and reset event or dining spaces after service, returning all furniture and equipment to proper locations.
Assist bartenders by running drinks to tables or service stations when needed (without making drinks).
Support Servers and Server Assistants during high‑volume periods with water service, clearing, or running items.
Help maintain pacing and communication between the bar, pass, and FOH teams.
Transport supplies, batches, and equipment between floors as needed.
Support bar operations across multiple floors, including rooftops, dining rooms, lounges, and room service bars when applicable.
Assist with stocking satellite bars, event bars, and private dining setups.
Move inventory, tools, and supplies safely between floors.
Follow all Renwick Hospitality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), service steps, and handbook guidelines.
Uphold expectations regarding professionalism, respect for the property, and care for all equipment and guest‑facing spaces.
Maintain a clear understanding of company policies, including appearance standards, communication expectations, and guest‑safety protocols.
Support a culture of accountability by modeling proper procedures and reinforcing standards with peers.
Ensure all actions reflect Renwick Hospitality’s commitment to excellence, consistency, and respect for the team and property.
Previous barback or hospitality experience preferred but not required
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
Ability to lift, carry, and transport heavy items (ice, cases, kegs)
