Job Purpose

The Barback supports bar operations — stocking, prep, and cleanliness — enabling Bartenders to focus fully on member service.

Principal (Essential) Duties

●      Stock and restock bar supplies, liquor, mixers, ice, and garnishes throughout service.

●      Prepare garnishes, juices, and other mise en place ahead of and during service.

●      Maintain glassware supply, washing, and organization.

●      Support keg changes, liquor inventory counts, and delivery receiving.

●      Maintain bar cleanliness and organization to the club's standard throughout and after service.

●      Support the Bartender/Lead Bartender directly during high-volume periods.

Secondary Duties

●      Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

●      Ability to perform job functions with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail under pressure.

●      Strong teamwork orientation and ability to anticipate Bartender needs.

●      Basic familiarity with bar tools, glassware, and inventory practices.

Experience / Education Requirements

●      High school diploma or equivalent preferred; not required.

●      Prior food/beverage service experience preferred but not required — entry point into the bar career track.

●      Food handler certification current per D.C. requirements.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

●      While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

●      Operate with indomitable work ethic and the willingness to work additional hours and atypical shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

●      Stand and walk for extended periods (up to a full shift) on a dining or bar floor.

●      Lift and carry up to 35 lbs (trays, cases, supplies) and perform repetitive bending, reaching, and carrying.

●      See, hear, talk and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity; kneel, sit, stand, walk, crouch, stoop, bend, stretch, twist, reach, pull, push and other similar, repetitive tasks requiring physical activity.
