Barback

We’re looking for a skilled and professional barback to join our team! For this role we are only considering candidates with previous barback or busser experience in a high volume restaurant with high level hospitality and service.

Chef/owner Tomer Blechman of the popular Mediterranean restaurant Miss Ada in Fort Greene opened Theodora in 2024. At the heart of Theodora is an inviting open kitchen focusing on fresh and dry-aged seafood and open-fire cooking. Our bar program is focused on creative, culinary influenced cocktails. Our bar serves guests for their full dining experience, and our bar team including the bar back are focused on hospitality and creating a welcoming environment.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years of barback, busser, or bartender experience in a cocktail focused program with full service dining at the bar.
• Spanish language ability is a plus
• Culinary experience and prep skills are a plus

The barback will be responsible for supporting the bartenders before and during service. This is a great opportunity for a newer bartender looking to gain experience in a cocktail setting. This role will have substantial hospitality responsibilities, and will allow for a barback to remain connected to the guest experience throughout their shift. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist with bar set up
• Produce fresh juices
• Stock ice, glassware, batches and syrups
• Clean and polish glassware during service
• Assist with stocking and restocking stations during service
• Assist with clearing bar seats, and creating a warm and welcoming guest experience
• Assist with cleaning and breaking down the bar

Physical Requirements:

• Be able to stand for extended periods of time (over 7 hours)
• Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds steadily 
• Be comfortable bending, sitting, walking extended distances including up and down flights of stairs, and moving. 
• Be comfortable walking up and down stairs frequently, including while carrying large containers
