Our national law firm client is seeking an experienced Banking & Financial Services Attorney to support its regulatory and compliance practice. This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who enjoys advising financial institutions and payments-related businesses on complex regulatory, supervisory, and risk matters.
The role offers exposure to both federal and state regulatory issues, with meaningful client responsibility and the opportunity to work across a broad range of financial services matters.
Locations: Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, New York, Pittsburgh, or Washington, D.C.
Role Overview
The attorney will advise clients on regulatory compliance, investigations, examinations, and enterprise risk issues affecting banks, financial institutions, fintech companies and other market participants.
Responsibilities may include:
- Advising on federal and state financial services regulations
- Supporting responses to regulatory investigations and supervisory inquiries
- Reviewing and developing compliance policies, procedures and internal controls
- Advising on compliance management systems and risk frameworks
- Counseling clients on payments-related legal and regulatory issues
- Assisting with regulatory strategy remediation and ongoing compliance
- Working directly with clients and internal business teams on practical solutions
Candidate Profile
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school required
- 5-7 years of banking, financial services, regulatory, compliance or investigations experience
- Experience with federal or state financial regulators
- Strong understanding of financial services statutes compliance programs and risk management
- Experience with payments or fintech-related issues is a plus
- Strong legal research writing and communication skills
- Excellent judgment and client-service skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a collaborative environment
