BAC Mechanical DesignerThe Designer specializing in New Product Introduction will play a pivotal role in driving innovation and excellence in the design of cutting-edge heat rejection equipment for global markets. The primary purpose is to lead the design efforts from concept to product launch, utilizing design automation tools and techniques in accordance with BAC and industry standards.Knowledge & Skills Required:Basic proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)Introductory knowledge of sheet metal design and simple part modelingFamiliarity with bill of material (BOM) concepts and structuresAwareness of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principlesDeveloping communication skills to collaborate with team membersDemonstrated ability to follow guidance and contribute to design deliverablesExposure to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) conceptsInterest in problem-solving and learning design practicesWillingness to learn Scrum or agile methodologies for project workPreferred Knowledge/Skills:Autodesk Inventor & VaultSAP or equivalent ERP systemBasic programming (e.g., Python, Visual Basic)Design of sheet metal componentsIndustrial refrigeration / HVAC components and assembliesRequired Experience/Certification:Technical certificate or Associate degree with 1+ year experience (1000 hours working experience in 3D design) or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related fieldThe Designer reports directly to the Design Team Lead. He or she will collaborate with engineers, designers, and other cross-functional team members to support the launch of NPI programs globally.Principal Accountabilities:Support the design and development of heat rejection equipment using appropriate design toolsAssist with design automation activities to improve efficiencyCollaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to support product developmentUse 3D CAD software to generate parametric models and designsParticipate in design reviews to gather input and improve outcomesContribute to a culture of innovation and quality in product designDocument project work and share updates with stakeholdersDefine basic design parameters and contribute to achieving project milestonesApply Scrum methodologies under guidance to support agile design developmentSupport discussions on new product requirements and design changesAdditional Responsibilities:Travel periodically to BAC manufacturing facilities during prototype or pilot assembly and assist with prototype/pilot build.Working Conditions:BAC has flex work policy – 3 days in office and 2 days remote.Working hours are the standard BAC 40 hours per week (8:30am-5:00pm with flexible start/finish times allowed)Travel, both domestic and international can be up to 10% of the timeOccasional evening/weekend hours may be required, although can often be done from home with the use of a portable computer.Primarily Sedentary Activity in the office will be experienced; however occasional travel to BAC manufacturing facilities and R&D lab with assembly (medium work) is required.The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform 3D computer modeling.The worker will typically be subjected to only indoor conditions; however on occasional trips to BAC manufacturing facilities and R&D lab, the worker may experience heat, cold, humidity, and noise.BAC Hiring Compensation Range $25.30- $37.96BAC offers a comprehensive benefits package to include medical, dental, vision, paid time off, 401k, employee stock ownership plan, and more.
