As a result, the company's activities in the fields of nuclear energy and related sciences are yielding significant innovations in the safety and economics of nuclear power, hybrid energy and medical applications – all for significant human health benefits.TerraPower is seeking a skilled and experienced Azure Engineer to support the company's Azure Government hosted resources. These resources include identity management, HPC operations, compute workloads, data management, secure storage, and AI services. The organization conducts nuclear energy reactor design and energy production research within a controlled and compliance-driven IT environment, requiring precision, reliability, and adherence to stringent security and quality standards.This position is in the Enterprise IT team managing Azure access, High Performance Computing (HPC) infrastructure, engineering software environments, and regulated compute workloads, partnering closely with Infrastructure Architecture, Security, DevOps, and Application teams to ensure cloud services are reliable, scalable, and compliant with corporate and regulatory requirements across all Azure Gov resources.The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with disciplined operational awareness. They understand how to manage cloud resources in a controlled, compliant, and performance-sensitive environment, enabling advanced computing and research initiatives while maintaining security, efficiency, and reliability aligned with mission-critical objectives.Key Responsibilities:Administer and optimize Azure Government environments, including compute, identity, networking, storage, and PaaS servicesDesign, implement, and maintain secure Azure configurations supporting HPC clusters, AI workflows, and research workloads in compliance with organizational and regulatory requirementsSupport and integrate Azure CycleCloud Workspace for Slurm for orchestration, scaling, and management of HPC workloadsManage diverse storage solutions (e.g., Blob/File, NetApp, Managed Lustre, etc.), ensuring appropriate performance, cost optimization, and compliance with data retention policiesDevelop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) templates and automation scripts in the TerraPower repository (e.g., using Bicep, Terraform, Ansible) for consistent environment deployment and management.Partner with DevOps teams to support application deployments and platform servicesOversee identity and access management through Entra ID and role-based access control (RBAC) aligned to least-privilege principlesImplement and maintain security controls including network segmentation, encryption, monitoring, and compliance reporting consistent with organizational governance requirementsCollaborating with Infrastructure Architecture, IT Operations, and Engineering teams to support controlled environments hosting qualified scientific and engineering softwareMonitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance or availability issues across compute and storage servicesSupport escalation management, ensuring critical or compliance-sensitive issues are promptly routed and tracked to resolutionGenerate reports on performance, identifying areas for process improvement and communicating trends to leadershipQualifications:Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience managing Azure environmentsDirect experience working with Azure Government (Azure Gov) services and associated compliance boundariesProficiency with Azure HPC and workload integrationStrong knowledge of Azure storage solutions, performance tuning, and cost managementExperience implementing and managing security and compliance controls within Azure environmentsFamiliarity with identity management, AAD, and RBAC administrationStrong scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python, Ansible or Terraform)Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and communication skillsAbility to adapt to a fast-paced environment supporting multiple concurrent projects and business prioritiesRemain current with industry trends and emerging technologiesNice to have qualifications:Experience in regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, energy, aerospace, or federal contracting).Understanding of ITIL service management best practicesJob Functions:Motor Abilities: Sitting for extended periods, bending/stooping, grasping/gripping, fine motor control (hands)Physical exertion and/or requirements: Minimal, with ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds.Repetitive work: ProlongedSpecial Senses: Visual and audio focused workWork Conditions: Stairs, typing/keyboard, standard and/or sitting working environment of >8 hours/dayTravel required 0-10%TerraPower's technology is controlled for export by various agencies of the U.S. Government.

Based on the business needs for a particular position, TerraPower may not consider a foreign national from a country if it is impracticable to obtain timely Government export approval.Salary Range: $117,922 - $176,833* We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual's qualifications experience.
