Piper Companies is seeking an Azure Security Engineer to support and enhance a cloud-first security program for a leading organization in the technology and services industry. The Azure Security Engineer will play a key role in securing enterprise Azure environments, implementing security controls, and driving compliance initiatives while partnering with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams.
Responsibilities of the Azure Security Engineer:
- Design, implement, and maintain security controls across Azure cloud environments.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to security incidents utilizing Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, and related security tools.
- Conduct security risk assessments, vulnerability management, and remediation activities.
- Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to secure cloud workloads, applications, and infrastructure.
- Implement identity and access management solutions utilizing Azure Active Directory and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
- Support compliance initiatives involving regulatory frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and CIS benchmarks.
- Automate security processes and reporting through scripting and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
Qualifications of the Azure Security Engineer:
- 4+ years of information security experience with at least 2 years focused on Azure cloud security.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure security services, including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Policy, and Azure Key Vault.
- Knowledge of identity and access management, Zero Trust principles, and cloud governance frameworks.
- Experience securing cloud-based networks, virtual machines, containers, and serverless workloads.
- Experience securing and managing multi-cloud environments, with hands‑on knowledge of AWS security services such as IAM, Security Hub, GuardDuty, KMS, and CloudTrail.
- Proficiency with PowerShell, Python, or other automation scripting languages.
- Understanding of security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management processes.
- Experience with compliance and regulatory standards such as NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, or SOC 2.
- Azure security certifications such as AZ-500, SC-200, SC-300, or equivalent preferred.
Compensation for the Azure Security Engineer includes:
- Salary range: $120,000 -$165,000
