Azure DevOps Engineer — Laboratory & HPC SystemsWe are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to support and modernize our laboratory infrastructure, including High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments, Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), and genomics data pipelines. This role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering and life sciences technology, requiring both deep Azure expertise and practical familiarity with regulated lab systems. You will be a key contributor to designing, automating, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, and secure cloud environments that power our computational genomics and laboratory workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, build, and maintain Azure DevOps pipelines (YAML-based) for continuous integration and deployment across laboratory and bioinformatics applicationsManage Azure Repos, Boards, Artifacts, and Test Plans in an enterprise environmentImplement branch strategies, code review workflows, and gated deployments for regulated lab softwareAutomate infrastructure provisioning using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates in AzureSupport and maintain HPC clusters (Azure CycleCloud, SLURM, or equivalent) used for genomics and large-scale computational workloadsCollaborate with bioinformatics teams to optimize job scheduling, resource allocation, and pipeline throughputManage integration between LIMS platforms (e.g., LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage, or similar) and cloud infrastructureEnsure reliable, secure data flows between laboratory instruments, LIMS, HPC compute, and downstream analytics systemsSupport deployment and operations of genomics workflows (e.g., WGS, RNA-seq, variant calling) on cloud-native and hybrid HPC infrastructureWork with containerized bioinformatics tools (Docker, Singularity) and workflow engines such as Nextflow, Snakemake, or WDLMaintain data lifecycle management for large genomic datasets including storage tiering, archival, and retrievalEnsure DevOps practices meet GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, or ISO 17025 compliance requirements as applicableImplement role-based access control (RBAC), audit logging, and secrets management via Azure Key VaultConduct infrastructure security reviews and support audit readiness for lab and cloud systemsConfigure monitoring, alerting, and observability using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application InsightsEstablish SLAs, SLOs, and incident response playbooks for critical laboratory systemsLead root cause analysis and drive continuous improvement following system incidentsRequired Qualifications5+ years of experience in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering role3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Pipelines, Repos, Artifacts, Boards)Demonstrated experience working in or directly supporting laboratory environments with LIMS integrationPractical knowledge of HPC infrastructure — job schedulers (SLURM, PBS), parallel file systems, or Azure CycleCloudExperience with genomics or bioinformatics pipelines and familiarity with NGS data formats (FASTQ, BAM, VCF)Proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools: Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templatesStrong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShellExperience with containerization technologies: Docker, Kubernetes (AKS), and/or SingularityUnderstanding of regulated environments and compliance frameworks applicable to life sciences (GxP, HIPAA, 21 CFR Part 11)Preferred QualificationsMicrosoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or equivalent Azure certificationExperience with bioinformatics workflow engines: Nextflow, Snakemake, Cromwell/WDL, or GalaxyFamiliarity with genomics cloud platforms such as Terra, DNAnexus, Illumina Connected Analytics, or SeqeraBackground supporting clinical or translational genomics laboratoriesExperience with data governance and metadata management for large-scale omics datasetsKnowledge of Azure Genomics, Azure Batch, or Azure Machine Learning for computational biology workloadsFamiliarity with laboratory instrument integration protocols (HL7, ASTM, or vendor-specific APIs)Technical EnvironmentCloud & DevOpsAzure DevOps, Azure Cloud (AKS, Azure Batch, CycleCloud, Key Vault, Monitor, Log Analytics)Terraform / Bicep / ARM, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, HelmHPC & Lab SystemsSLURM / PBS / Azure CycleCloud, Lustre or BeeGFS parallel file systemsLIMS platforms (LabWare, STARLIMS, LabVantage, or similar), ELN integrationsGenomics & BioinformaticsNextflow, Snakemake, WDL/Cromwell, SingularityNGS toolchains: BWA, GATK, STAR, Samtools, bcftools, DeepVariantData formats: FASTQ, BAM/CRAM, VCF, FASTA, HDF5What We OfferCompetitive salary and equity commensurate with experienceComprehensive health, dental, and vision benefitsFlexible remote or hybrid work arrangementAnnual learning & development budget for certifications and conferencesAccess to cutting-edge genomics and laboratory technologyCollaborative, mission-driven culture at the forefront of life sciences and cloud computing
