Job Description
The AWS Administrator will play a crucial role in the design, provisioning, configuration and optimization of the end-to-end vision and strategy for how data flows through the J&J AWS Commercial Pharm development and production environments. The individual will be joining a Data POD of developers and admins in the iterative design of a business solution using the Agile methodology. The candidate will also be required to have a deep familiarity with the following technologies and its application to business solutions: EKS, EC2, EMR, Kendra, GLUE, Athena, Spectrum, Elastic Search, EBS, S3, along with Oracle database administration experience. Candidates experienced with Spark, EKS, Dockers, Python, Redshift, RDS, CI/CD, MuleSoft, Apigee, Sage Maker, CloudWatch, CloudTrail will have preference.
The candidate will work with multiple IT teams and Business Intelligence teams to set standards that define how data is collected, used, stored, managed, and integrated within our AWS environments. The AWS Admin will be required to follow J&J’s AWS‑related security policies, the project’s overall data architecture and the solution’s fit into J&J infrastructure to address identified information needs. Specifically, the AWS Admin will be involved in resource & cost optimization, provisioning, patching, POC work, software installation, working with VPCx team for the whitelisting of new services, and other similar activities.
Required Skills / Experience
- 8+ years of professional experience in AWS administration.
- Hands‑on expertise in delivering end‑to‑end solutions for Data & Analytics applications, handling both structured and unstructured data within the AWS and Oracle environments.
- Strong ability to collaborate with project managers & stakeholders to refine and document infrastructure requirements iteratively, while accurately forecasting engineering efforts.
- Strong dedication to continuous integration and leveraging automation for stable development and production environments.
- Extensive experience in optimizing costs and performance.
- Proficient in Linux and Windows system administration tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality.
- Self‑motivated and determined to achieve set milestones.
- Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to both mentor and be mentored.
- Capability to seamlessly work within a multi‑site, multicultural development team.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies.

- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.

- Experience with Scrum and an Agile Development environment.
- Experience with tools like JIRA, GIT/Bitbucket, Confluence, etc.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Delivery concepts and tools like Jenkins, SonarQube, bitbucket, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of tools like Sqoop, Spark, Oozie, Hive and Impala.
- Strong working knowledge of ETL tools like Informatica and/or Talend.
- Knowledge of best practices in using reporting tools like Tableau, Qlik, R, etc.
- Experience with data lineage, data profiler and metadata management tools and processes.
