A Global Bank in New York City is seeking an experienced professional to join their Product Control team as an Assistant Vice President.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key Finance and Control partner to multiple business areas within a global financial services organization
- Review transaction activity, cash movements, and accounting entries to ensure accuracy, completeness, and appropriate financial treatment
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account substantiation, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Monitor settlement activity and related financial transactions across several business lines
- Oversee operational accounting activities, including expense tracking, invoicing, payment processing, and cash monitoring
- Ensure daily, monthly, and quarterly reporting is complete, accurate, and reconciled to the general ledger
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting deliverables
- Evaluate new products and business activities to determine the appropriate accounting, valuation, and disclosure treatment
- Analyze financial and balance sheet variances and clearly communicate findings to management
- Collaborate with business, operations, accounting, planning, technology, and other internal teams to address issues and strengthen processes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in product control, financial control, accounting, operations, or a related function within financial services
- Strong understanding of financial products, transaction activity, and financial reporting processes
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and financial controls
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, and financial modeling
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
